Hi all, In the taskbar I have a volume-icon with a red cross on it. Sorry this didn’t help. When I go to this icon, “No audio output device installed” appears. Doesn’t reproduce on 9.

I checked for hidden devices, but there wasn’t any. I’ve tried everything I can think of to fix this damned problem intl now I’m left with no choice but to seek outside help.
Does anyone have an idea how I might be able to get all the options to work? This is a driver issue.

This is where I am at: Make sure that in the BIOS, that the on board sound is turned on. Sound currently comes out of the two front speakers and the sub but the two rear physically top speakers are silent. The motherboard uses an H ICH8 audio chip identical to the one actually working in the Lenovo Thinkpad X61 sitting next to it; both are running Gutsy.
