Interestingly enough, dhclient works great, but dhcpcd is what seems to be choking on intep network.

Some Intel network cards cannot be used as the IDs are missing from the ee driver. This thread is about how to fix an Intel LM wired ethernet driver.
So, it is recommended to avoid using the vanilla rc kernels until the issue is resolved. I am told there a power-saving feature in this card that makes it invisible unless using Windows drivers, I am looking into this.
