Still playing catch-up with just about everything, so here are some one-liners with silver linings:

I double-checked my Gmail spam folder for false positives (which I should do more often). Google’s text link at the top goes to a recipe for Spam Fajitas.

Bike Gangs are so passe. Segway Gangs are the new hotness in California.

Remember, you can’t be punched or kicked over the Internet. Yet. Microsoft is working on it, so it won’t work until Version 3.1

Wendell’s Law of Perception
We all construct our own reality. Some of us just use better raw materials.

This reminded me of my own wedding. 3 out of 4 of my “groomsmen” were co-workers, but then I was laid off two weeks before the wedding. Then one of the groomsmen was laid off a week later. Somehow I kept the wedding party together, or else I definitely would’ve had the Guy Who Fixed My Transmission IN a Tuxedo. Still, all my suddenly-former-co-workers who were NOT part of the wedding party were no shows for the wedding.

I’m not a Mac, I’m a PC… A PC-13 to be more precise. Brief, non-frontal nudity, mild violence and no more than 2 uses of the F-word.

Everytime I see Thomson Seedless Grapes I think of Warren Zevon’s “Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner”. Is that wrong?

Wendell’s Law of Progressive Education
“When you teach them to question authority, you usually become the first authority they question”

A sharp wit can be a deadly weapon, but works best if the victim realizes he/she’s being slashed.

Comcast Cares.™ But do they ever really tell us WHAT Comcast Cares ABOUT?

I’ve been a couponer since they were made from bearskin. Much harder to clip back then.

Why is it that every time I hear about the Tampa Bay team with the recent name change, I think of them as the “You-Can-Call-Me-Rays”?

…to protect myself. I had received certain legal advice (not from here, not that there’s anything wrong with that) that if I continued to label myself as WendellWit, I may be legally required to deliver measurable quantities of Wit. Now true Wit is a rare commodity, more valuable than Humor, Laughs, The Funny, Irony, Satire or even The Wry (which it is often mistaken for), yet not appreciated as much as it should be. I have often aspired to Wit, but have rarely achieved it in my writing – it’s not easy, and the pressure to achieve it has made me question myself when all I wanted to do was go for the funny. And at times when I wished to be genuinely serious, the Wit Expectation made it harder to be TAKEN seriously (“Is he being, like, really really subtle?”). As I’ve mentioned before, my original blog was OneSwellFoop.com, a domain I lost (along with most of the original contents) when Real Life interfered big-time with my Virtual Life during the bad old days of 2002. I do now possess a handful of whimsical little domain names (including OneSwellFoop.NET) which I intend to be doing various whimsical little things with, but first, I really really reeeally need to clean things up under the hood here. If any of my Cool Web Friends ever took a good look at my CSS… NO! Don’t go there, please! I’m pleasantly surprised that this change has not broken most of the old links to individual posts and/or pages, for which I can only thank the wizards behind WordPress, allowing me to cross off one item from a lengthy ToDo list without actually doing anything. But stay tuned. You are gonna hear from me. And if it’s not all going to be here, I’ll be pointing you to wherever it is.
