Weirder Every Day

There’s one musical artist who first broke out in the ’80s who is still as good as he ever was… depending on your personal definition of “good”. And that is Weird Al Yankovic. His newest collection of musical affrontery, “Straight Outta Lynwood” (a joke only people who KNOW the suburbs of L.A. can appreciate) is officially released next Tuesday the 26th (just in time for all of you eight readers to pitch in two bucks each and buy it for my birthday on the 30th, he hinted). But he already has put out FREE downloads of his James Blunt bit “You’re Pitiful” (mp3!) – which Blunt’s label apparently vetoed putting on the album while the artist himself approved it AND the deeply topical “Don’t Download This Song”, which may earn him an intervention with some RIAA thugs. And now, even though His Weirdness’ Official Website says that the video for “White and Nerdy” is going to “World Premeire” on aol.com @ 9:00PM PDT on Monday, it is already on YouTube like two days before… Seems like the dork with the accordian has become the King of Copyright Counter-Culture.

Meanwhile, some editing fool with too much time on his hands made a video of Weird Al’s Latest Polka Medley using clips from the videos of the songs he’s messing with – all sped up to sync with the polka-speed performance. Now THAT is Cool Nerdy.

Okay, 3 bucks each will buy the DVD of the “The Weird Al Show – The Complete Series“. I’m not trying to pressure anybody, really.

And as much as I idolize the guy, he still looked better WITH the moustache.

AND NOW A WORD FROM SOMEBODY WHO MAY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ME...
