"LOL with Bacon"

Stream of consciousness blogging…

A foolhardy soul attempted to post this to Metafilter:

Yes, you saw that right, Pepsi Ice Cucumber (available only in Japan, semi-appropriately).

Which reminded me of this:

And while I was re-Googling that, I discovered the story of Coke vs. Bacon.

Which also reminded me of John Scalzi, Oldskool Blogger, Science Fictitionary, The Dictator of Writing (I comply with all of his edicts except #5… yes, all writers should spend some time working as editors, but the world will never be ready for Wendell editing other people’s words) and The Guy Who Taped Bacon to His Cat.

I don’t think many people realize how that was a seminal moment in the development of the LOLCATS meme, because I was surprised to NOT be able to Google up any versions of that picture with LOLCAPTIONS.

So, I did it myself.

Which dovetails perfectly to this great xkcd comic which has spawned other webcomic references… (well, at least one). And the Bunny comic just reminded me that I still prefer funny pictures of bunnies to funny pictures of cats.

Neener neener.

But while I was still thinking of bacon, I thought of the current storyline of the Barkeater Lake comic, in which they are planning a local festival called Baconpaloozastock.

And speaking of a BaconLOLapalooza (in kind of a Suicide Food way)…

Which should be the appropriate end to this rambling whateveritis (I am so jealous of Scalzi for getting the title “Whatever” for a blog before me), but I just stumbled over this cow in Miss Cellania’s field (and she is out standing in her field)…
