25 years ago, I was semi-professionally connected to the then-pioneering Alternative Rock radio station KROQ. Nothing to do with the music, I was writing and producing comedy material for some of the undersupervised DJs (and often going over the heads of the age-18-24 prime audience). But if I had been asked then which of the stations ‘core artists’ would still be around and still popular, while sounding mostly the same, I would NOT have picked Depeche Mode. I liked them (kind of an evolution of my appreciation for the Pretentious Rock of Yes and Procol Harum), but I did not expect them to outlast the ’80s.
I mention that because they have a brand spanking new, very Depeche-y (not Depesci) sounding album out and the download divas at Amazon MP3 have it on sale for $3.99 today (April 21st, overlapping into the 22nd a little) only.

That’s 13 new, quite listenable if you’re into that kind of thing (and I still am), tracks for $3.99. And if you use the link in the picture or this one to go buy them, then I get about 10 cents of the 4 bucks and am one tiny step closer to monetizing this blog. (I’ll explain why I’m still an unrepentant Amazon Affiliate after the infamous AmazonFailSunday in a later post – I’ve written quite enough for today)
